Our commitment is manufacturing stylish and eco-friendly shoes, that´s the reason why we strive to achieve materials and processes as respectful as possible to the planet.
RECYCLED SCRAP FILM
The GRETA stiletto and GARBO ballerina cuts are made of 100% recycled polyester mainly from post industrial scarp film.
Fact: 3 m2 of scrap wrap film are used to produce 1 pair of ONNOA.
NATURAL RUBBER
The GRETA Stiletto and GARBO Ballerina soles are made of rubber, of which 40% is natural rubber and we continue working to increase this percentage.
VEGETABLE TANNED LEATHER
All the leather used in GRACE stiletto and KELLY ballerina manufacturing (including cutting, lining, insole and sole) have been tanned by the traditional method of vegetable tanning, which uses substances known as tannins. These vegetable tannins are extracted from different trees and bushes, but mainly from trees such as: acacia, oak, chestnut and willow-leaf red quebracho.
These leathers are free of Chromium and other heavy metals.
FACT: 95% OF THE PRODUCTION OF THE MARKET IN LEATHER IS MADE WITH CHROME OR WITH OTHER CHEMICALS.
In our manufacturing process we avoid the presence of Chromium or other heavy metals that are harmful in the 3 phases of the product's life.
1. Manufacturing
In the tanning and dyeing of the skin, only plants are used. This way we avoid water contamination, creating chemical residues in the process and the health risk of workers who handle these skins.
2. Use
While using these products, your skin is in contact with a totally natural skin, which doesn’t cause allergies and removes the risk of transfer chromium or other metals from the shoe´s skin to yours.
3. Refuse
Tanned skin with vegetable tannins is totally degraded without leaving any type of polluting residues. When non eco-friendly shoes are thrown away, if the waste is not well treated, chromium and other heavy metals from the shoe´s skin will filter into the ground and groundwater, which contaminates food grown in those farmlands, transferring this contamination to the food chain.
RECYCLED COTTON
Our woven bag to carry your ONNOA is made 100% recycled materials of wich 25% is recycled cotton.
Fact: One discarded cotton t-shirt is used to produce 5 ONNOA bags.
RECYCLED PET
Our woven bag to carry your ONNOA is made 100% recycled materials of wich 75% is recycled PET, mainly from discarded PET bottles.
Fact: 2 soft drink bottles of 600 ml are used to produce 1 ONNOA bag.
RECYCLED CARDBOARD
Our boxes are made of Kraft cardboard, 100% recycled and 100% recyclable.
OTHERS
Our commitment is to be 100% eco-friendly, that's why even the sticks used to maintain the shape of the shoe during storage and transport are made of paper instead of plastic, so we achieve our goal of zero plastics in our packaging.
